Before Ava Chives took up the position, the Vault was under the careful supervision of Anna Chives, its original curator and guardian of the Rumpeltonian Archives. Anna was known for her strict cataloging methods, mysterious filing system, and her firm belief that absolutely nothing should ever be thrown away—not even a badly drawn portrait of someone nobody could identify.
Then, without warning, Anna Chives disappeared.
To this day, nobody knows exactly what happened. Some say she wandered into the deepest section of the Vault and never found her way back. Others claim she discovered a painting so Rumpeltized that it caused her to vanish from reality itself. There are even whispers that Anna is still somewhere in the Archives, quietly rearranging the folders while refusing to answer the door.
With her sister missing, Ava Chives reluctantly assumed control of the Vault, becoming its new curator and custodian.
Ava has never publicly discussed Anna's disappearance.
She simply says, “The Vault must go on.”
And somewhere in the darker corridors of the Archives, an old curator's name remains on a brass plaque:
ANNA CHIVES
FIRST CURATOR
STATUS: MISSING
