On Avachives Entry No. 2 – “Untitled (Possibly Regrettable)”
By Marjorie Snint
Rumpelton’s second entry in The Avachives is a study in restraint, if restraint were a form of pixelated violence. The composition evokes the feeling of being trapped inside a fax machine during a thunderstorm. There is a figure—possibly human, possibly a sentient pile of laundry—gazing into what might be a mirror, or a void, or a very judgmental toaster.
Ava’s archival notes are suspiciously brief, which suggests either reverence or fear. Snint leans toward fear.
Snint’s Observations:
- The color palette is “early Windows trauma.”
- The brushwork is reminiscent of someone trying to draw with their elbows.
- There’s a recurring motif of existential confusion, rendered in bold, unforgiving pixels.
Interpretive Theory:
This piece is clearly a response to the cultural moment when everyone forgot how to use scanners. It speaks to the fragmentation of identity in the age of JPEG compression and emotional buffering.
Final Rating:
🧼🧼🧼 out of 🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼
(One point deducted for making Snint question her own reflection.)
