For over a decade, Ava Chives has been a quiet yet decisive force within the Avachives — a sprawling, shape-shifting project equal parts archival repository, conceptual artwork, and ongoing satire of art-world self-importance. Often described (sometimes reluctantly) as a “guardian” of the Avachives alongside Ralph Rumpelton, Chives has cultivated a role that blurs the line between custodian and co-creator.
