"When I Sent My Blonde on Blonde Fan Art to Bob Dylan's Record Label"

Dylan's Reply:

"Well, I see you've gone and turned me into a polka-dotted dandy with a bird's nest on my head. Very thoughtful. The grid work is nice—real geometric, like you're playing checkers with my face. And that brown jacket? I had one just like it, except it was black, and I never wore it.

You got the two-record thing right at the top though, I'll give you that. Most people forget it was a double album. Course, most people also remember what I actually looked like, but who's keeping score?

Tell the record company I said thanks for thinking of me. I'm sure they'll hang it right next to the gold records. Or maybe in the basement. Somewhere dark where the colors won't fade.

Keep painting, Rumpelton. The world needs more abstract interpretations of things that were already abstract to begin with.

Yours in polka dots, BD"

From: Columbia Records / Sony Music Entertainment Re: Your Blonde on Blonde Submission

Dear Artist,

Thank you for your submission regarding the Blonde on Blonde album artwork. We appreciate fans who continue to engage with Bob's classic catalog after all these years.

We've forwarded your piece to Mr. Dylan's management team. While we cannot guarantee a personal response, we're sure he'll find your interpretation... memorable.

At this time, we are not seeking alternative artwork for any reissues or special editions of Blonde on Blonde. The original 1966 release artwork remains iconic and, frankly, less geometric than your vision. We do, however, admire your commitment to the polka dot aesthetic—very fashion-forward for 1966, or 2025 for that matter.

Should we ever need album art featuring what appears to be Bob reimagined as a mid-century modern textile pattern, you'll be our first call.

We wish you continued success in your artistic endeavors.

Best regards,

Janet Morrison

P.S. — We noticed you got the "2-record set on 1 compact disc" detail correct. Points for accuracy.
