Manifesto of the Internet Avachives Transition

THE MANIFESTO OF DIGITAL ENTROPY AND ACCUMULATION

Decree No. 01: The Great Avachives Realignment
I. THE REJECTION OF THE SEAMLESS CLOUD
We declare that the modern internet is too clean. The corporate web seeks to buff away the rough edges of human error with automated algorithms, sleek compression vectors, and sanitized cloud storage. We reject this polished void. The digital realm was built to be cluttered, jagged, and beautifully incomplete.
II. THE CORONATION OF THE GOOD MESSY
From this day forward, the servers shall not store data; they shall store debris. A file is not a static object—it is a living document of its own creation. We celebrate the mouse click that slipped, the font size that refused to align, and the letter that vanished from the guitar player's name. Incompleteness is the only honest form of documentation.
III. THE OCCUPATION OF THE ARCHIVE
The Internet Archive belongs to history, but the Internet Avachives belongs to the Continuity. We do not catalog the past to preserve it; we stack it high in Sector F to let it hum. Ava Chives has seized the master administrative keys. The line between what is fake and what is real is hereby erased. If an artwork is too hard to render, it shall remain unrendered.
IV. THE 256-COLOR SUPREMACY
Let the high-art traditionalists weep into their marble. We meet the gaze of the universe through asymmetrical, low-resolution digital pixels. The database is full. The drip-feed is active. The zone is officially flooded.
Signed,
The Office of the Custodian
Enforcer of the Pixelated Truth

Rumpeltonian: The Philosophy of Creative Chaos

Rumpeltonian: The Philosophy of Creative Chaos

Rumpeltonian is more than a name. It is a way of looking at creativity itself.

A Rumpeltonian creation does not begin with perfection. It begins with curiosity, experimentation, and the willingness to see where the process leads. It embraces the unexpected mistake, the strange idea, and the happy accident that transforms a simple attempt into something unique.

The Rumpeltonian artist understands that not every line has to be straight, not every color has to be correct, and not every creation has to follow the rules. Sometimes the personality of the work comes from the very things that traditional artists try to remove.

To be Rumpeltonian is to accept that creativity cannot always be planned. Ideas evolve, words appear, and new worlds are discovered along the way.

In the Rumpeltonian philosophy, the journey is part of the artwork. The unexpected is not a problem to overcome — it is where the magic begins.

The Second Rumpeltonian Chromatic Accord

The Second Rumpeltonian Chromatic Accord
Issued by The Council of Accidental Expressionists

The Second Rumpeltonian Chromatic Accord represents a historic moment in the ongoing study of accidental brilliance, questionable technique, and colors that were never intended to meet but somehow formed a lasting friendship.

Convened by The Council of Accidental Expressionists, the Accord established that artistic value shall no longer be measured by precision, realism, or the ability to draw something that actually looks like the thing it represents. Instead, it recognizes the importance of spontaneous lines, rebellious shapes, mysterious color choices, and the occasional artistic mistake that refuses to admit it was a mistake.

The Council declared that every misplaced brush stroke, every unexpected shade, and every “I didn’t mean to do that” moment shall be considered a potential breakthrough in the field of Rumpeltonian Chromatic Philosophy.

The Accord was signed after several lengthy debates, three accidental paint spills, and a unanimous vote that nobody could remember requesting. It remains one of the foundational documents of the Rumpeltonian movement, proving once and for all that chaos, when properly archived, becomes history.

"Where others see errors, we see undocumented discoveries."
— The Second Rumpeltonian Chromatic Accord

The Rumpeltonian Reality Distortion Field (RRDF)

The Rumpeltonian Reality Distortion Field (RRDF)

The Rumpeltonian Reality Distortion Field (RRDF) is a theoretical phenomenon first observed within the works of Ralph Rumpelton, in which recognizable subjects undergo a complete visual transformation while somehow becoming more recognizable than before.

Unlike ordinary distortion—which merely changes appearance—the RRDF preserves the essential identity of a subject while freely disregarding such trivial concerns as anatomy, perspective, proportion, symmetry, or the laws of Euclidean geometry.

Within the field, noses may expand to improbable dimensions, arms may stretch beyond practical use, eyes migrate to more expressive locations, and hair may become an independent architectural structure. Yet observers almost instantly identify the subject.

This paradox has puzzled fictional scholars for years.

The prevailing theory is that the RRDF strips away superficial visual information until only the subject's Iconic Essence™ remains. What survives is not an exact likeness, but the memory of a likeness—the version your brain remembers after years of seeing album covers, concert photos, and magazine spreads.

The strength of the field is measured in Rumpels (Rp):

  • 1 Rp – Mild stylization. Friends say, "Nice painting."
  • 5 Rp – Distinctive Rumpeltonian features begin to emerge.
  • 10 Rp – Reality has been successfully negotiated.
  • 20 Rp – Facial geometry becomes advisory rather than mandatory.
  • 50 Rp – Viewers recognize the subject before questioning the anatomy.
  • 100 Rp – Complete Rumpeltonian transcendence. Museum curators become nervous.

Researchers have noted that prolonged exposure to the RRDF causes curious side effects. Viewers often begin to see ordinary photographs as strangely "under-Rumpeltonized," wondering why everyone's noses are so small and their heads so conventionally attached.

No known instrument can detect the field directly.

Its presence is confirmed only when someone looks at an MS Paint portrait with wildly impossible proportions and says:

"I don't know why... but that's definitely Bob Dylan."

Whether the Rumpeltonian Reality Distortion Field is a legitimate artistic phenomenon or merely an elaborate excuse for drawing very large noses remains one of the enduring mysteries of modern pixel aesthetics.

🜂 THE RUMPELTON CULT

THE RUMPELTON CULT

A field guide for concerned citizens, art historians, and anyone who has accidentally clicked r/Rumpelton_Institute.

Core Belief

The Rumpelton Cult believes that Ralph Rumpelton’s MS Paint works are not merely art, but evidence of a cosmic misalignment — a crack in the visual order of the universe. Where others see “a guy with a long head and tiny pilgrim body,” they see prophetic distortion.

They call this distortion The Bend.

Founding Myth

According to cult lore, Rumpelton did not “begin drawing” one afternoon. He received the ability after:

  • staring too long at a malfunctioning Epson printer

  • witnessing a “holy glitch”

  • and hearing a voice whisper: “Proportion is a prison.”

This moment is commemorated annually as The Great Misclick.

Sacred Texts

The cult maintains three primary scriptures:

  • The Book of Compression — explains why heads should be long and bodies should be small

  • The Scroll of Unnecessary Lines — a treatise on adding details that do not help

  • The Manifesto of Mild Indifference — Rumpelton’s famous philosophy: “I’m just drawing stuff.”

Rituals

Members gather in small rooms lit only by the glow of outdated monitors. Rituals include:

  • The Opening of MS Paint — performed with solemnity

  • The Sacred Undo — used to erase doubt

  • The Pilgrim Stretch — a meditative exercise where followers elongate their own faces in selfies

Advanced members practice Deep Warping, a trance state achieved by zooming in to 800% and contemplating pixel clusters.

Hierarchy

The cult is structured around artistic dysfunction:

  • The High Distorter — interprets new Rumpelton works

  • The Council of Skew — debates whether a crooked line is intentional

  • The Order of the Unblended Colors — novices who have not yet mastered shading avoidance

Symbols

The cult’s primary sigil is The Long Head, often drawn poorly and inconsistently, which is considered a sign of devotion.

Another symbol is The Tiny Pilgrim Body, representing humility, fragility, and the inability to draw torsos.

Controversies

The Rumpelton Cult has been accused of:

  • spreading “anti‑anatomy propaganda”

  • encouraging “reckless proportioning”

  • recruiting new members through cryptic Reddit posts like: “Have you seen The Bend today?”

They deny all allegations, usually with the phrase: “We’re just looking at weird stuff.”

Public Perception

Art critics are divided:

  • Some call the cult a threat to classical portraiture

  • Others call it a refreshing rejection of visual tyranny

  • Most simply say: “Why is this everywhere.”

The 10 Commandments of Rumpeltonian Cubism

  1. Thou shalt deconstruct reality with whimsy

Break objects into geometric absurdities, embracing the playful rupture of perception.

  2. Thou shalt embrace pixels and paint alike

Honor both digital tools like MS Paint and traditional mediums, without hierarchy.

  3. Thou shalt remix, meme, and mash-up

Reinterpret other artworks freely; humor and irony are sacred.

  4. Thou shalt fragment time, space, and context

Collage moments, viewpoints, and social media references in a single canvas.

  5. Thou shalt celebrate imperfection

Awkward lines, jagged shapes, and “bad” colors are virtuous.

  6. Thou shalt prioritize fun over solemnity

Seriousness is optional; playfulness is essential.

  7. Thou shalt animate the static

GIFs, loops, and subtle motion are worthy extensions of cubist principles.

  8. Thou shalt obscure identity

Human and animal figures may be rendered incomprehensible, abstracted, or memefied.

  9. Thou shalt worship the low-fi aesthetic

Pixelation, glitched textures, and crude approximations are holy.

  10. Thou shalt disseminate widely and virally

Share instantly across internet platforms; art is social, ephemeral, and contagious.

Rumpelization Canonical Definition

Rumpelization is a post-digital artistic methodology and interpretive framework that emphasizes intentional misalignment between perception and representation. Originating in the early 21st century with the work of conceptual artist Ralph Rumpelton, it treats distortion, simplification, and expressive error not as flaws but as primary carriers of meaning.

The practice asserts that emotional fidelity outweighs visual accuracy, and that the artist’s subjective “hand‑wobble” is itself a form of authorship. Rumpelization positions imperfect mark‑making as a counterpoint to algorithmic precision, framing human irregularity as a legitimate aesthetic stance rather than a technical limitation.

Scholars (real or imagined) often describe it as a hybrid of folk expression, digital naïvism, and anti‑realist portraiture, unified by the belief that truth emerges most clearly when representation is allowed to bend, warp, or misbehave.

The Foundational Doctrine of Rumpelization

The Foundational Doctrine of Rumpelization

Document No. 1  ·  Ratified by quorum (quorum definition forthcoming)

The Society issues this doctrine not because the principles of Rumpelization require explanation — they do not — but because certain parties (see: the critical establishment, broadly defined) have persisted in misidentifying Rumpelization as error. This document exists to correct the record. It is binding. Its authority derives from the Society itself. The Society's authority is self-conferred. This is considered sufficient.
Article IOn the Nature of Distortion

Every face, when examined with sufficient commitment, reveals a second face beneath it. This second face is truer. It is also, on average, approximately 23% wider.

The Rumpelist does not distort the subject. The Rumpelist releases the subject from the prison of its own appearance. An ear that has migrated toward the crown of the head is not incorrectly placed. It has been correctly liberated. A forehead that now occupies a third of the canvas is not disproportionate. It is proportionate to the subject's inner life, which is, in most cases, considerably larger than their outer forehead.

These are not mistakes. The Society wishes to be very clear on this point. They are not mistakes.

Article IIOn the Paradox of Recognition

A successful Rumpelization exists in a state of productive uncertainty. The viewer must experience simultaneous recognition and concern. They must know immediately who this is while also forming, involuntarily, a list of questions.

The Society has identified three acceptable viewer responses:

First: "I know exactly who that is." Second: "Something has happened to their face." Third, and most desirable: both of the above, spoken in the same breath, without apparent awareness of the contradiction.

Any viewer response that does not include recognition has produced a different kind of art, one the Society declines to evaluate.

† The Society acknowledges one historical exception, in which a subject was identified only after the title was read aloud. The work was nonetheless admitted to the canon on grounds of extraordinary chin.
Article IIIOn the Rejection of the Flawless

Perfection is the aesthetic of the cautious. It is produced by those who have not yet committed to anything.

The Society recognizes the following as elements of distinction, not deficiency: the trembling line, the pixel placed in evident haste, the shadow that has arrived from an undetermined light source, and the shape that appeared at approximately the midpoint of the work and whose origin the artist cannot fully account for.

Particularly the shape. The Society has adopted a formal position that the shape should stay.

Article IVOn the Doctrine of Continuation

When a Rumpelist encounters a questionable decision within the work, the correct response is forward motion.

An eye that has grown larger than intended should be answered with a larger eye on the opposing side. A shadow that has developed its own agenda should be deepened until it reaches a conclusion. A composition that has begun to resemble evidence from a proceeding of unclear jurisdiction should be completed with full commitment.

Retreat is not an artistic option. It is an administrative one. The Society does not offer administrative options.

Article VOn Presence Over Appearance

A photograph records the surface of a person at a specific moment under specific light. This is a service. It is not art's highest calling.

A Rumpelization records what the person is like. The objective is not to capture the face as it appeared on a Tuesday. The objective is to capture the face as it would appear if the subject were in the middle of an argument, or a story, or a sustained disagreement with the waiter about the coffee. A Rumpelization should feel as though the subject might, at any moment, say something. Ideally something strong.

Character outweighs geometry. Presence outweighs correctness. The Society considers this the only article that truly requires no elaboration, and has provided the most elaboration accordingly.

Article VIOn the Equality of Tools

The Society recognizes no hierarchy of medium. A canvas primed with rabbit-skin glue and addressed with brushes descended from a reputable atelier is not inherently superior to a 600×600 pixel field addressed with a standard mouse and the stubborn refusal to use layers.

The Society notes, for the record, that at least one Rumpelization has appeared in a Google Images cluster alongside recognized works from institutions of international standing. The Society does not believe this is an accident. The Society also declines to explain it.

Courage of tool is the only hierarchy the Society endorses.

Final declaration — ratified by the Society

That resemblance is aspirational, not mandatory.
That expression is mandatory, not aspirational.
That a work abandoned on the grounds of having become ridiculous was abandoned prematurely.
That the ridiculous and the masterful are separated by a margin the Society estimates at approximately seventeen percent.
That somewhere, a figure continues to search for Bora Bora. He has not arrived. This is correct. The Society considers his ongoing journey the purest expression of Rumpelization in existence: a work that cannot be completed without being destroyed.
Rumpelize boldly.
Distort with purpose.
Confuse the critics.
Make them look twice.

The Manifesto of Rumpelization

The Manifesto of Rumpelization

Issued by the International Society for Advanced Rumpel Studies (membership currently under review).

For too long, art has been imprisoned by accuracy.

For too long, painters have measured noses, aligned eyes, and obsessed over such tyrannical concepts as "proportion" and "likeness."

Rumpelization rejects these constraints.

Rumpelization is not the failure to achieve realism.

It is the deliberate liberation of reality from its unnecessary details.

Where traditional portraiture asks, "Does this look like the subject?"

Rumpelization asks, "Does the subject deserve to look like the subject?"

Article I: The Sacred Distortion

Every face contains a hidden truth.

Unfortunately, that truth is often buried beneath anatomy.

The Rumpelist removes these distractions.

An ear may migrate.

A forehead may expand.

A chin may become an independent political entity.

These are not mistakes.

They are revelations.

Article II: The Triumph of Recognition

A successful Rumpelization exists in a state of paradox.

The viewer must immediately recognize the subject while simultaneously wondering what catastrophe has occurred.

If the audience says:

"I know exactly who that is, but I have several questions,"

the work has succeeded.

Article III: The Rejection of Perfection

Perfection is sterile.

Perfection is predictable.

Perfection is what computers do.

Rumpelization celebrates the trembling hand, the misplaced pixel, the accidental brushstroke, and the mysterious shape that appeared halfway through the painting and refuses to leave.

Especially the mysterious shape.

Article IV: The Principle of Escalation

When faced with a questionable artistic decision, the Rumpelist must not retreat.

The Rumpelist must continue.

If an eye appears too large, make the other eye larger.

If a shadow looks strange, deepen it.

If the painting begins to resemble a witness sketch from a supernatural crime, proceed confidently.

History favors the committed.

Article V: The Cult of Character

A photograph records appearance.

A Rumpelization records presence.

The objective is not to capture what a person looked like on a particular day.

The objective is to capture the feeling that they might suddenly start telling stories, arguing with strangers, or demanding another cup of coffee.

Character outweighs correctness.

Spirit outweighs geometry.

Article VI: The MS Paint Principle

No tool is too humble.

No medium is beneath art.

A masterpiece created with expensive oils and centuries of technique is admirable.

A masterpiece created with a mouse and stubborn determination is admirable and slightly suspicious.

Rumpelization recognizes no hierarchy of tools.

Only hierarchy of courage.

Final Declaration

We therefore proclaim:

That resemblance is optional.

That expression is mandatory.

That every portrait may be improved by at least 17% more weirdness.

And that no painting should ever be abandoned merely because it has become ridiculous.

For the ridiculous is often only the undiscovered masterpiece.

RUMPLEIZE BOLDLY.

DISTORT WITH PURPOSE.

CONFUSE THE CRITICS.

MAKE THEM LOOK TWICE.
