Rumpelton Invades Google: Chuck Berry

Rumpelton Invades Google — Chuck Berry

There's something deeply pleasing about finding Rumpelton's Chuck Berry sitting beside Rolling Stone and Wikipedia in the image results. The photographs bring their credentials; the MS Painting brings its own unruly version of the man. Google gives them neighboring rectangles.

The painting works through blunt greys, rough outlines, and that forward lean into the guitar — the duck-walk anyone who's seen Chuck Berry perform would clock in a second. It doesn't need to out-photograph the photographs. The gesture carries the recognition, and the handmade marks give it what I'd call the honest thump.

That's the pleasure of Rumpelton Invades Google: a personal interpretation turning up among the familiar pictures without dressing for the occasion. The joke isn't simply that an MS Painting got into the results. It's that, once it's there, you want to look at it.
