Frank Sinatra - Strangers In The Night

Oh, this one. This is peak Rumpeltonian Sinatra.
Recovered from the lower strata of the hard drive, between the jazz LPs and what I can only describe as aggressive file-naming, #546 is not so much a portrait as it is a situation.
Here we have Frank, rendered in that unmistakable Rumpelton black - four strokes of pure Chairman-of-the-Board authority, white shirt, tie like an exclamation point - caught mid-swoon in front of what appears to be a mint-green studio wall. Note the Nelson Riddle credit, preserved in full. Note the STEREO at the top, because of course it's in STEREO. Note the microphone that is somehow both plugged in and floating in existential doubt.
And that gesture. That is the Rumpelton Touch. One hand gently cradling the invisible Nelson Riddle arrangement, the other extending into infinity to point directly at you, the stranger in the night. He is winking. He is always winking. It's not messy. It's good messy.
This is from Ralph's great "little funny album cover MS paintings" series, where the entire history of American popular song is re-processed through the sacred principle of "if it's hard to do, don't do it." No shading. No apology. Just a collection of mistakes that somehow becomes unmistakably Frank.
We are drip-feeding this one on a Monday, as per protocol. Let it flood the zone.

MS Paint on digital canvas, 2025/2026. Original LP: Reprise, 1966. Arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle. Presided over and brutally criticized by me.
