Upon first observation, the subject appears seated in conventional recital posture. This is a deception.

The crimson disc behind the figure is not a backdrop — it is a portal. It hums faintly at 3:17 a.m. when viewed in low light. Several junior archivists have reported feeling “politely judged” by it.

The figure — presumed to be Percy Thrillington, though documentation remains disputed — holds a violin in a manner that suggests both performance and invocation. The bow is not merely contacting strings; it is summoning chamber music from an alternate salon dimension where powdered wigs never fell out of fashion.

Note the hands. They are not anatomically concerned with your expectations. They exist for gesture alone. Gesture, in Rumpeltonian theory, outranks anatomy.

The face is partially obscured in shadow, which is correct. Thrillington was never meant to be fully seen. Only inferred. Only sensed. The pale hair arcs outward like a spectral wig attempting escape.

The potted plant on the left has been officially classified as a Witness. It leans inward. It knows what happened during the recording of the orchestral Ram. It will not speak.

Lettering Analysis:

It is the considered position of this Tribunal that the work before us — hereinafter referred to as "The Thrumping" — constitutes a lawful and indeed laudable act of Painterly Misremembering, executed with what I shall characterise as rupturous fidelity to the spirit, if categorically not the anatomy, of its source material.

The figure's cranial ambiguity is not, as certain parties (Gribble, E. — you know who you are) have ungenerously suggested, a failure of draughtsmanship. It is, I submit, a metaphysical recusal — the artist wisely declining to impose mortal portraiture upon a being of McCartney's mythic rank. The violin, barely distinguished from the hand that wields it, speaks to the unity of artist and instrument, a principle enshrined in the Tableist Manifesto, Clause 7, Sub-section R: "When the bow becomes the arm, the Tribunal shall not intervene."

The potted plant, I note, is above reproach. I will hear no argument on this.

This Tribunal hereby issues a Writ of Aesthetic Pardon, retroactive to the first brushstroke, and reminds the court that Percival R. Thrumpelton himself was never, technically, fully rendered.
