It has come to our attention that the moniker Avachives, long associated with the painstaking archival of MS Paint interpretations of musical masterpieces, has been hijacked by an entirely unrelated Instagram account. This new Avachives engages in the decidedly avant-garde practice of posting personal selfies, brunches, and other quotidian curiosities.
While the coincidence is striking, let us remind patrons and collectors alike: one Avachives preserves cultural chaos with bold, cartoonish sincerity; the other merely preserves the aesthetics of lattes. To conflate the two would be akin to mistaking a Kandinsky for a coffee table.
Exhibition visitors are advised to exercise discernment. Yes, both exist. No, neither is responsible for the other’s content. And yes, the universe clearly has a sense of humor.
Gallery footnote: Rumors of a collaborative project are entirely unfounded — though the potential for a “Selfie Meets Surrealism” crossover remains tantalizing.
